This sort of diet is dictated by your own blood type. Diets like this gained popularity when Peter D’Adamo’s book, “Eat Right 4 Your Type” was released. D’Adamo says that a blood type diet will not only cause weight loss, but also helps with allergies and immunity, and makes the dieter healthier all around.

So what exactly is a Blood Type Diet?

Blood type diet for people with O-type blood, the recommended diet is low-carbohydrate, low in diary products, and high in proteins from meat and fish. The specific foods that must be avoided by people with this blood type are oranges, avocados, and Brazil nuts.

Blood type diet for people with A-type blood should not eat red meat. Fish, vegetables, and a low dairy intake are allowed. These people should also do only light exercises.

Blood type diet for blood type “B” people should eat plenty of meat, dairy food, fruits, vegetables, and some fish. People with this blood type should avoid bacon and chicken.

Blood type diet for people with AB-type blood should combine the diets from A- and B-types blood .

Metabolism, as well as a person’s sensitivity to sugar and/or insulin could also be important factors in picking out the right blood type diet. This diet may help you to lose weight and give other health benefits. D’Adamo suggests everyone cut down on refined and processed foods.

The book also suggests low cal diets that will most likely allow anyone of any blood type diet to lose some weight. “Eat Right 4 Your Type” and other Blood Type Diets encourage a meat and fish diet, and do not suggest you eat grains, potatoes, cereals breads or pasta.
