The grapefruit diet plan has held on for more than a few years now, even hundreds of different fad diet plans have come and gone. Therefore, to put into action or one you should avoid, is this one of the best weight loss plans?

You will be limited to only 800 calories per day following the grapefruit diet plan, and it is far too low and can really do more damage than good, but we will have a discussion more about that in a minute.

Some of the following requirements below including on the grapefruit diet plan:

- In every meal you eat, you must drink a grapefruit or eat at the same amount of grapefruit juice.

- You cannot eat between meals that are between breakfast and lunch or between lunch and dinner.

- You cannot eat white vegetables, sweet potatoes or breads.

- Eat until you become very full.

- Every day you must drink 8-8 oz glasses of water

There are many more restrictions to the grapefruit diet plan, but the bottom line is, does it work?

The grapefruit diet plan claims if following the plan you will weight loss of 10 pounds in 12 days. Numerous studies have been done which show varied results. Some dieters lose only 3-4 pounds during the 12 day period, while others lose 10-20 pounds.

I think you can see that trying to eat one with every meal would get old in a hurry, although there are benefits of including grapefruit diet plan. Not to mention the mouth sores from the acid in the grapefruit.

Before starting grapefruit diet plan, you would need to talk with your doctor for those who are on any type of medications because of how it interacts. Grapefruit can prevent certain medications from working properly because research has shown that it blocks an enzyme in your intestines. Not a good situation for anyone to be in.

Finding a diet that allows you to eat a variety of different foods while maximizing weight loss at the same time is the best bet, even as grapefruits are good for you.
